So I've finally come back down from cloud nine and it's time to get back to reality... Just over three weeks after my last post on April 10, my fiancée and I welcomed our beautiful monster Jayse Anthony into the world. Weighing in at a healthy 4.2kgs, he is nothing short of perfection. Jayse is almost 4 months now and I still cannot believe how quickly time has flown. It still feels like yesterday that I was pacing the floor of the birthing suite at the hospital. And yes labour isn't something I would recommend to everyone. It is nothing short of pure agony. But the reward you get for all your efforts is pure bliss and simply breath taking. Those first few moments with your new bundle of joy leaves you to wonder how on earth you could feel such immense love for a teeny, tiny human you've only just met.
Too long between posts
Now it's been a while between drinks... But between moving house, working two jobs and having an enormous bulge growing on the front of me I have found it extremely difficult to keep up with writing about my feelings.
I am now officially playing the waiting game. I am 38 weeks and my midwife tells me my little bundle of joy is in position and ready to go. My hospital bags are packed and his room ready - it is now all up to him.
Week 21....
I have sadly said goodbye to my belly button piercing... Adios! Definitely getting a little too tight across the tummy now to be wearing one of them. I think my little man is going to be a soccer superstar because he has been kicking like crazy! Not sure yet whether I like the feeling yet though. It is very, very weird... But at the same time it is kind of cool to know that that is your child moving around in there...
Week 19
My baby has 10 toes, 8 fingers and 2 thumbs.... Thank god! I just had my 19 week ultrasound and every limb, organ and body part is where it should be... I also found out the gender of the baby..... and it's a BOY! YAY! Not that I really cared whether it was a boy or a girl, but I won't lie, my partner and I secretly wanted a boy =) .... Now I can start buying clothes for my little man! And I love being able to refer to him and as 'little man' or 'him'. It gives him a personality now, rather than just referring to him as 'it'.
Week 17....
Yes my stomach is starting to protrude.... Much like a small soccer ball as my sister put it. And all my favourite clothes are now too uncomfortable to wear. It sucks! I've put on about 3.5 kilos now and most people have said I am not showing at all, but I feel like a beached whale!
Week 16...
So week 16 begins and I am beginning to realise just how relaxed my pregnancy has been so far. I don't even feel pregnant to tell you the truth - besides the fact that I'm starting to look and feel a little round and I can't enjoy myself at parties! I am worried that the second half of my pregnancy is going to be a killer!
According to my book my baby is small enoughto fit in the palm of my hand and weighs about 80 grams. And thanks to my best friend I now have an app on my phone called 'baby bump' which compares the size of my baby to a fruit. I think this week it is the size of navel orange. Weird! And soon I should be able to start feeling the baby move - not literally kicking, but light, little flutters and tickles of the little munchkin's movements.

Further than I thought?....
So I had my 12 week ultrasound a week and a half ago.... But really it should have been called my almost 14 week ultrasound, because the midwife told me I was a little bit further than what I thought. So I am now 15 weeks and I am a little freaked out because in five weeks time that means I am officially half way... This whole journey is going a little bit quicker than I anticipated.
Week 15 - so according to my baby books my little jellybean weighs about 50 grams and it's about 10 centimetres long. (I swear it looked way bigger in the ultrasound scans though!) And apparently it already has hair growing on its eyebrows and head... weird!
